Using the equipment provided and the design shown to the left, assemble a potometer with a segment of the fresh bean plant and test for leaks. After familiarizing yourself with the set-up, step back to design a procedure that will test a question about the effect of an independent variable on the some aspect of the process of transpiration in the bean plant. You may change some factor in the environment surrounding the plant or focus some variable factor of the plant itself. The design is to be completed and submitted as a separate assignment before the data is collected. You may however, modify your design as you begin to collect and process data if necessary and/or indicated.
