BIOlogy Narrative - Review Activity for FInal EXAM - YEAR One
1. List 3 processes (sets of metabolic reactions and/or steps) which you feel you need to revisit (home work)
2. Form groups of 3-4 with only one representative of each topic to be reviewed/revisited (<5 minutes)
3. Using available resources (Clegg - or other- textbooks, Biozone workbook, Essential Biology assignments, i Biology, click4biology, Bioninja, biology4friends websites) to develop a RICH sequence of events that tells the story of the process (15 minutes)
Consider the importance of including the following in your written outline:
The Challenge - "why" the process is needed or necessary
The Setting - "where" and "when" how is the location and/or timing optimal
The Roles and Players - "who/what" at the cellular/molecular level is performing the action
The Resources - what other support materials are needed - both tangible or otherwise
The Regulators - what "twists" i.e, what new conditions - again, physical or otherwise, might change or influence the intermediate or final outcome
Feel free to add other elements that are helpful in telling your story!
4. Share your "pitch" orally with your group members (20 minutes, 5 minutes each) - save time for Q/A (5 minutes)
5. Submit you written outline to be photocopied and shared with class the next day for review packet
